Jim Cheadle's Biography
Jim Cheadle is a
pianist/keyboardist in the
Philadelphia/Wilmington area. He
has been around for over 30 years
and can be heard on many
recordings including his own fusion
band Sahara, which recorded for
Columbia Records during the late
1970s. Sahara opened for such
bands as Chick Corea and Michael
Urbaniak at several top
Philadelphia venues.
Jim was part of the Philly
Inernational hit making scene and
was a staff writer with
April-Blackwood Music, writing
songs with producer Jerry Ross for
such notables as Jerry Butler,
Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes
and The O'Jays. Jim spent some
time in South Florida where he was
part of the fusion scene that
launched the careers of Jaco
Pastorius and Peter Erskine. Jim
has also played and recorded with
Don Cornell, DJ Jazzy Jeff, The
Four Aces, Grover Washington Jr.
and The Soul Survivors.
For ten years, Jim was a Professor
in the Jazz Department of Rowan
University and he has a private
teaching studio in Swedesboro, NJ.
He owns 9 South Productions, a
full-service recording studio in
Swedesboro, NJ. 9 South
Productions produces music for
Radio, TV and Film, fully
orchestrates backgrounds for
songwriters and vocalists along
with multi-track recording for
bands and complete mastering and
duplication.
Jim's latest project is called,
BingBangBoom! BBB has been
together playing in and around the
Wilmington/Philadelphia area for
about five years. Their sound
combines Jazz/Fusion with many
nuances including traditional Jazz,
Blues and Latin. BBB's new CD,
Life At The Top Of The Food Chain,
is now available!
